ABOUT ME

Hey everyone! I am Gracelin Clark. I am a lover of books, Netflix binges, naps, and food. Although the previously stated activities are all home-body like, I also enjoy dancing, traveling, and rollercoasters. My baby is named Lexi, and she is my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who has my whole heart. When I am not taking care of my dog, studying for school, or other hobbies, I work as a food runner at Siam Sushi and have worked there for almost 2 years. I am a very empathic person, and I love getting to know people and hearing everyone's different stories.

FUTURE ASPIrATIONS

I aspire to have a successful career and be able to travel. I would also like to have time for a future family (many years into the future) and be able to continue being happy.

#WHYAKDPHI

I am adopted from the Hubei province in China and was brought to America when I was nine months old. I am sad to say that that was the last encounter that I have really had with Asia or any authentic Asian culture. Growing up, I felt like an outsider to any identity I could claim. I felt too Asian to fit in with the White community even though that was the race my family was and too white-washed to fit in with the Asian community. There were even times where I hated my race and wished I was something else in order to fit in with the social norm. However, I grew up in a loving family who had always supported me and helped me through this inner conflict.

Nonetheless, it took a while for me to finally come to terms with my identity, and when I did, I felt like I should embrace it. I came to FSU wanting to join a sorority in the first place, but the ones recommended didn't seem to fit what I was looking for. Then out of the blue, aKDPhi followed me on Instagram, and I went to one of their hot chocolate study socials the same week. I went in not knowing what to expect, and I left feeling like I needed to join. I have always been searching for a sense of belonging and community at FSU and finally found it through this one event. I also wanted to learn more about my Asian culture and gain appreciation for it. Fortunately, I knew that this sorority was the right one for me, and I can happily say that I have found myself a forever family in it.
