Our Service & Philanthropy
national philanthropy
Since 1999, alpha Kappa Delta Phi has focused our national philanthropy on Breast Cancer Awareness. Our sisters nationwide spend year-round dedicating themselves to raising awareness, spreading education, and helping fund breast cancer research, even donating over $1M to help the womxn and families impacted by this disease.
aKDPhi’s Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Mission:
To raise and donate funds to a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating breast cancer
To dedicate at least one Service Event per chapter to Breast Cancer Awareness each October
To provide opportunities and resources for our sisters to learn and do more about Breast Cancer Awareness
The aKDPhi sisterhood is united in the fight against Breast Cancer. Along with our active sisters and alumnae, we work together to spread awareness on all our campus communities through service projects, workshops, informational booths, and forums. As part of this effort, we encourage aKDPhi sisters to continue to learn about breast health, preventative measures, and opportunities for further engagement around Breast Cancer Awareness.

relay for life
Every year, we participate in Relay For Life at the Florida State University campus. Relay For Life is an organized, overnight community fundraising walk, where teams of people camp out around a track with members of each team taking turns walking around the track. There are food, games and activities that provide entertainment and build camaraderie.
Relay For Life began in May 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington. He raised $27,000 to help the American Cancer Society fight the nation's biggest health concern — cancer. A year later, 340 supporters joined the overnight event. Since those first steps, the Relay For Life movement has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising nearly $5 billion to fight cancer.
experience asia
Each year in the Fall, the Asian Coalition of Tallahassee (ACT) holds an event for the Asian community to raise Asian Awareness in the Tallahassee community. Each association performs cultural dances, and sell cultural foods in the parks in Downtown Tallahassee.
The Asian American Student Union of the Florida State University takes a big role in helping setting up the various booths and being the MC of the event. FSU alpha Kappa Delta Phi is an affiliate of AASU and assists with the early setup and late take-down when the fair is concluded.
Some of our sisters are active in many AASU affiliate organizations, such as the Japanese Language and Culture Association and the Vietnamese Student Association, and participate in the performances.
