ABOUT ME

I enjoy painting, longboarding, and going to coffee shops and art museums. I also love reading during my free time. Some of my favorite authors are Isabel Allende, Hermann Hesse, Lisa See, and Gabriel García Marquéz. I’m also into tattoos. Since Summer 2020 I’ve started to design my own tattoos as well as designs for some of my friends. I’m passionate about interior architecture and science and I’d love to work in both fields in the future. I also drink a lot of coffee and buy boba all the time.

FUTURE ASPIrATIONS

Architect, Space Architect

#WHYAKDPHI

I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. Although there is a big population of Japanese Peruvians I didn’t feel close to my asian culture because my family was not very involved with the Japanese Peruvian Association. I always felt left out and thought I didn’t belong anywhere because I didn’t look like everyone else and my traditions were different. When I moved to the states, I noticed that there were people from different backgrounds, but I still felt out of place. Coming to FSU I met so many welcoming people that helped me grow to not be afraid of my identity and taught me that there is always a place where you belong. That’s when I realized all I had to do was break out of my comfort zone and adventure myself into new opportunities and experiences. That is when I decided to rush aKDPhi. I was not very sure if I really wanted to but then I met all these empowering women who made me feel welcomed and loved. I’ve learned so many things since I joined. From friendship to leadership experience, I am very grateful for aKDPhi and all my sisters who support me and love me for who I am.

“There are no rules. That is how art is born, how breakthroughs happen. Go against the rules or ignore the rules. That is what invention is about.”
